Talking to your bump: where to start

4 Min luettavuus

So many parents say the same thing: "I want to talk to the baby, but I don't know what to say." Speaking to your belly can feel a little odd at first, and that is completely normal. The good news is that there is no right or wrong sentence. Talking to your baby is simply spending time together, out loud.

Why talk at all?

Most sources think babies begin to hear sounds from outside during the second half of pregnancy. But the loveliest part of talking happens in you: stopping for a few minutes a day to focus on the baby turns waiting into a relationship.

Small ways to begin

If it feels awkward

Start when you're alone: in the bath, on a walk, before sleep. If speaking feels hard, write first: a short letter, a few lines. Then read it out loud.

Partners can talk too

For the parent who isn't carrying, talking is one of the easiest ways to bond. A few minutes each evening can become a ritual you share.

In DUGIYAN

Every morning your baby writes you a little note in DUGIYAN, and the small invitation under it often suggests something you could say back. You can also record voice letters and keep them, to listen to together one day.
